Welcome to St. Patrick Catholic Community!

St Patrick Catholic Church, located in the heart of Carlsbad, is the foundation of our Catholic community. Our Roman Catholic Community is part of the Diocese of San Diego in beautiful Southern California.

Established in 1943, we are a faith-centered family, serving spiritual and temporal needs by proclaiming the Christian Message of God's love.

For over seventy years we have been a vital part of Carlsbad, helping our parishioners and the community at large.

Our Catholic Community is under the Pastoral Care of priests from the Congregation of Jesus and Mary, better known as the Eudists Fathers. They owe their name to Saint John Eudes who founded the congregation in France in 1643. They share and enliven the life of our parish with their call to Formation and Evangelization.

Share the life of our community, you belong here, because we all belong to Christ.

The Sacred Gift of the Eucharist

“Should I go to Mass this weekend?”

Many faithful wrestle with this question, amid the latest news on the coronavirus. But perhaps answering the question, “Why should I go to Mass?” and understanding the blessings of encountering the real presence of Christ will offer the compelling reason to attend Mass in person.

To help promote this, the diocese is launching a seven-week program to re-introduce the gifts received when attending Mass, none greater than the Eucharist.

On three consecutive weekends, pre-recorded homilies will be presented at every parish, each keyed to a distinct theme. They start on Sept. 11 with the Saturday vigil Mass, to be followed by the Sunday Masses the next day, and continuing to Sept. 26. The homilies will be available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.

Face Masks Recommended

In the wake of the delta variant and the dramatic upsurge of cases in recent weeks, we are strongly recommending that parishioners, once again, wear their masks when inside parish buildings. Those who have been vaccinated are encouraged to wear their masks as an act of charity. This request comes from Bishop McElroy and it seems like a prudent recommendation for all of us to heed.

At the same time, it is widely recognized that vaccination is our most powerful weapon against this virus. Many of our parishioners are already vaccinated. If you have chosen not to get the vaccine (for other than health reasons), please reconsider your decision. Not only are you protecting yourself, but you are also helping to bring this virus under control. That also is an act of charity. As you know, vaccination is widely available in our area.
